Directions for Use

1
Soak the gelatin in cold water for 60 minutes so that the gelatin absorbs sufficient water.
2
Then water bathing it with 80°C water until it is fully melted.
3
It's NOT recommended to use boiling water for the melting procedure and please follow the principle of "Soak and melt just as much what you need".

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Filtergel™ and what are its primary uses?
Filtergel™ is a purified protein gelatin obtained by partial hydrolysis of collagenous raw materials. It is primarily used as a clarifying agent in wine, beer, and fruit juice production to improve clarity and stability.
What mesh particle sizes are available for Filtergel™?
We supply Filtergel™ in various particle sizes to suit your specific processing requirements, including 8-10, 20, 30, 40, 50, or 60 mesh.
What are the main benefits of using Filtergel™ in brewing?
Using Filtergel™ provides multiple benefits for beer brewing, acting as an effective foam stabilizer, aiding in healthy yeast growth, and enhancing the overall biostability of the finished beer.
How do you prepare Filtergel™ for clarification?
To prepare it, first soak the gelatin in cold water for 60 minutes to ensure full water absorption. Then, melt it via a water bath at 80°C. Boiling water should be avoided, and only the amount needed should be soaked and melted.
What are the physical and chemical limits of this product?
Our physical/chemical specifications include a Gel Strength of >100 Bloom g (6.67%, 10°C), a viscosity of >1.5 mPa·s (6.67%, 60°C), and water insolubles restricted to ≤0.2% to ensure clean and efficient clarification.
Is Filtergel™ safe and compliant with heavy metal standards?
Yes, Filtergel™ complies with strict safety standards. The total heavy metal content is ≤40 mg/kg, with arsenic ≤1 mg/kg, chromium ≤2 mg/kg, lead ≤1.5 mg/kg, and zinc ≤30 mg/kg. It also tests negative for Escherichia Coli and Salmonella.
